SM: April to June 11

We have started Nikitin in May. I have bought 2 sets of nikitins from colleagu whose kids quitted SM long ago.The price i get is really Best value haa..

Missy is able to do her first Nikitin session today with my instruction and she is the first to complete it. Not bad at all. I ask Sinsei, what are we testing them in nikitin, Sinsei said "speed".mm.

we still have one poem recital per month, peg memory is on-going , not is 30 plus cards. flash memory is vegetables themes. brain excellent is LM set 2C in June.

missy is not showing excellent achievment in right brain exercise like image photo/mandala, but she is considrd fair in these area. her recital/memory is more powerful hope this will help her in the future. she even able to recital chinese poem after 2 repetition.

SM: 4 yo Jan to March

The goals for this term - 4 yo (Jan to March 2011)

1. Able to use fingers for a variety of written tasks
2. Have good flash memory
3. Able to reconstruct a pattern from image

We have a new student last week, which now made the class full , 6 students altogether. 5 girls 1 boy. they are Arthur(Nov), Mandy(sept), Angela(Nov), one more girl which is Nov too but i cant remember her name and the new girl which i don't know her name or month of birth.

So, this time, all of them are either 3rd quater or 4th quater babies, which is better i guess,. lil missy and Angela both have are very strong in poems recital, LM recital, flash memory and peg memory. when we come to this session, the two is conquering the recital in the class. while the other 4 will look on as they cant compete the speed the two utter the words. Great job for the two.

Now, im working on lil missy mandarin, our "san ji jing" we are in page 6 now.. so far so good,.

as in writing, missy is starting to try on number 4,7 ,"A" "C".. the rest still in progress..

SM - 4 yo class

We are starting our New Year with a new class. which i don't really know the children's name yet.

As previous class (forms by 4 girls) has ceased due to 2 students (Megan & Tyra) withdrawn. so the class of two (Ashley& us) cant continue, sinsei took over other class which the other sinsei quit or something. So, we have changed to other class of a new time slot. this class has 3 girls & 1 boy. 5 altogether.

the new thing in this term:
1. Peg memory - remember the word peg with number ( adv : in spelling next time)
2. LM - recital only. no need to arrange
3. recital - poems
4. high speed memory (HSM) - instantly need to remember and arrange the cards -5 each time
5. Flash memory - this temr is about occupation

all about memory. a bit stressful for missy i guess. cos i keep testing her and she sometimes tell me, i don't know !. sigh. hope im not pushing her too hard.

SM: Exercises Poem

SM: term Oct- Dec 10 for 3 yo

Goal for this term:

Missy is able to recite the poem after i read to her for few times, she is able to stand there and recite loudly. Of course, with lots of encouragement from us. Great job my girl !

I hope this poem recital can boast her confidence and also memory.

SM: Yawn song

We like the song that comes with a Sun face but in between, the sun yawn..

The lyrics:

and, yawn. Ouhhhh.. (tt's when the yawn picture came onto the sun's face)

The children in class will be laughing when reach the sun yawning part :)

SM- 4th terms -2010

We are now into the final term for 2010. missy class now has 4 girls, one born in Jan(Tyra), one in August(Megan), missy in Sept, and one in Nov(Zi Tong/Ashley). We can see the Jan girl doing much better than the rest, in term of concentration and understanding. But i believe all of them are equally good, just that the Jan-born girl (Tyra) is starting to output, while the rest is still in the inputting stage.

We have a poem to recite this term. Called Rocket. I read once to missy, get her to repeat after me. Then she is able to recite the whole poem. she has never stop to amaze me.

They are suppose to recite in front of the class. which i have some concern, as i noticed missy usually will shy off if we ask her to "show-off" what she knows.. she will either keep looking at me, twisting her tongue, or speak with super tiny voice..

so, i hope to train her confidence, get her to be more outspoken. hopefully, with the practise, she will be better.

SM- Addition & Substraction

besides Linking memory set we bought for missy set 123 A & set 123B, recently we added anotehr mathematics set (besides dots program), this set includes of CD+worksheet.

Missy suppose to listen to the CD, which we bought addition & multiplication, which are the only set available in Tensai shop. this is how it works,

We will play the CD which sing the addition like below:

1+1 =2
2+1 =3
3=1 =4

all the way to 9+1 =10.. it's like singing in rhythm, so children will use their right brain to remember while pointing at the worksheet with the equation above..

so, hopefully missy will like mathematics more..

SM - Three Yo (July - Sept) Goal

This term, missy suppose to be able to pick up the following:

3 years old Ju;y -September:
1. Able to add and divide

2. able to fix block s according to diagram

3. Has good instant memory

4. Able to recall sounds and their pictures

well, from my observation, missy can do (2) & (4) but (1).. she still not able to recognise numbers more than 4.. shake head. (3), she is ok, but LM still sometimes ok, sometimes not..

Missy and her Shichida Method Progress

It's been one year plus since we joined shichida Method. we started on April 2009 when missy is 18 month old.

Now, she is coming to 33 month-old. well, besides not concentrating in class and refuse to do her activities last time, she is benefitted from the course. she can remember lyrics such as sound of music to school nursery rhymes, she responds well to teachers in school, participative, cheerful and her vocab is very powerful. haaa partly also due to bedtime story read by her daddy almost every day.

her teacher (teacher Wayda) gave me her feedback which mostly are positive and she too thinks maybe she attended SM. she compares to other children's development and gave me these feedback. Which i feel happy to hear , of course. I will also share with her of hoe missy is at home. how she reacts to certain situation etc etc.

i love such interactive session with her teacher, so that we both understand the child more as children tend to react differently at different environment.

We shall continue to let missy enjoy SM until she is 6yo. Shall enroll lil boy when he is 18 month old, but i shall start to do the 5 minute talk to him and enforce on parent-child bon with him now (coming to 4 months old), since i already know how the method works,i shall start early with him, on flash cards too :)

Happy educating our child :) Play and learnt at the same time :)

SM: 3yo (Aprl to June) Term Goal

For 3yo, the term goal from April to June is as below:

1. Understand Substraction within 1-10

2. able to do complex maze/puzzle

3. Able to describe pictures

4. can recall linking memory pictures

mm.. which one missy can do ? (3) which she can describe on things she knows..the rest all..in progress i guess, puzzle, she is playing with more pieces now, but big piece which i bough from ELC. she does not know how to arrange them by herself yet, still need my help, but she knows how to put them together base on the shapes. substration ?? she cant recognise 1 to 10 yet. im still trying to teach her.. im a lazy mum.. sob

linking memory, hubby and i think she can recall, if she concentrates, but only 65% success rate. i prefere flash memory actually, easier for me to do home practise with her than linking memory.

shall work towards the goals.

SM: Linking Memory -3 YO

Starting from this year (2010), missy is considered in 3 year-old class in Shichida. thus, they will start the 3yo linking memory set 1A, 2A, 3A with VCD which play from 1 to 50 cards and reverse.

Sinsei already started the LM set 1A, i shall start with missy at home soon. now preparing the lesson plan..

Hopefully, our effort pays off, missy will have a good memory in future which helps in her studies and life ..

My Little Japanese Chef

Last weekend, missy's image play is about making cold noddles.. she is suppose to use chopstick to eat the cold noddles and feed her mumy..




missy is wearing the chef hat, and apron and busy trying to pick the 'cold noodles' using the chopstick. Using chopstick is part of the motro skill activities that is often practise in class.

she is just so cute in that chef hat.. haa. concentrating while mummy taking her photos..

We have been singing this sayonara songs since term1, which little missy is quite familiar with it now, also the greeting songs where she now will bow whenever we reach the Sensei ohayo-gazaimasu.

My Little Honey Bee

Sunday's SM lesson's preten play is about being a little honey bee, picking pollen and keep into bee hive. SO, my little misst has turned into little cute honey bee.. haaa.. so cute.




The bee, comes with two little wings too. the teacher is so creative. This week, all children are behaving themselves in the class.. giving full concentration to sinsei. Happy lesson i must say.

Missy still need to enhance on her LM, she just refuse to arrange the cards. wonder why.

Shichida Method - Term 3

Term 3 9Oct=Dec'09)

We just started this term, so far, image play is quite interesting and most love by children. Flash memory evolve to become teacher flashing cards, read it out and children to read it loud with each card’s being flashed. Nothing specifically new introduced yet so far.

little missy and friends are octopus with 8 tentacles,picking up clams as their food. The story is abt the octapus of the name oliver living in the deep sea, eating clams, and being chased by shark.. heee my little cutey octapus



image play and pretend play not only train their motor skills by picking up things as instructed, and then they can imagine they are the character being described like chicky, octapus..

Shichida Method - Term 2

Term 2 (July-sept'09)


Missy turned two at the end of this term

This term, mummy was preggy with little brother. Thus, nothing was done for home practice for almost whole of term 2.

This term, some of the additional things done in class such as blocks, playdough, new Shichida musical, image play and flash memory.

Blocks: each child is given 5 cubes, they are suppose to arrange the blocks/cubes according to the picture, either stack on top, arrange horizontally with one block on top etc

Playdough: each child is given one tin of playdough, they are suppose to roll the dough in snake-likes shape, then outline the snake-liked dough on pear or apple.

Flash memory: teacher flashed 5 cards two times. Then each child is given 6 cards, they are suppose to pick out the card that is not flashed by teacher.

Image play: teacher will tell a story using flash cards, then child is suppose to pretend play to be certain character , etc. little chick, wearing chicky hairband and wings, picking up corns ..

Shichida Method- Term 1

I wanted to update in blog for so long, never get around to do it, so, today finally i find some time to record some of the activities we did in SM.

Term 1 (Apr -June09)

This is the sequence of activities done in class during term 1
1. Welcome song
2. Energy Ball
Child is asked to rub both hands together and make the action of gathering all energy around them and make a big ball then:
a. Shout “Whoosh” to release the Energy downwards
3. Eat the energy down into tummy and say “armh..” and rub tummy
4. Hug & say “I Love you”
5. Breathing exercise : Blow candle and do a hi-five
One feather stick onto a stick and children are asked to blow the feather as if it’s a candle.
6. Hot card
Two cards – one card is empty, one card with a blue colour circle in the middle
Children are asked to touch the card with blue circle and teacher said “It’s hot”, and then put the two cards on the table face down. Shuffle it and ask the child to pick the “hot” card.
Mummy to hug their child tight and say they love them
7. Colour
Match colored cups with colour spoons (spoon can slide into the cups)
8. Opposites
Children are given a picture with one side fixed pictures, and then children are given a stack of pictures with opposite meaning of those in the picture. With Velcro to stick it on e.g. high/low, in/out
9. Photo Memory
a. Children are given one picture with 3 bowls of different colour/pattern, see for 1 min. then children are given pictures of 3 bowls and ask to arrange in the correct sequence as seen earlier
b. Children are shown a picture of a parrot for 1min. then teacher took out 2 parrots picture and ask children to choose the parrot they ‘ve seen just now. A slight different in colour
10. Linking Memory
a. Tell a story with 6 flash cards with pictures:
Parrot wearing a crown watching TV in a hotel, then a crab fall down and walk out of the door.
6 pictures are given: ParrotCrownTVHotelCrabDoor. Then children are asked to arrange the pictures in the correct story flow/sequence
11. Numbers
Children are given pages with one kernel in a page two kernel in second page etc .Children are to paste (Velcro) the puppy into the kernel. One kernel one dog
12. Songs & action Songs
Welcome songs/goodbye songs in Japanese. Some songs in mandarin / German. Some songs with actions.Sawako ( mandarine. English)

13. Finger play- Beehives
Here is the beehive, where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch and you'll see them out of the hive,
one, two, three, four, five.

14. EPS (Extra Sensory Perception) Telepathic
Teacher said she is passing signal on what she is thinking in her head. Children are shown a picture of a tree and teacher asks what tree is this? IS it a Orange tree or a Durian tree? Children pretend to get the signal and choose the right fruit.
15. Speed Flash cards
Teacher flashed cards of different topics in high speed.

a. She sells seashells by the sea shore
b. Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers

After-thought:
Little missy just turned 18 months when we started SM. She is more on absorbing than giving result. But she is rather attentive when teacher is flashing cards and LM.

Home practice: we have done quite a fair bit of home practice on card flashing with 200 cards daily and some of the ESP games.
